Live in The Vineyard is Proud to Present:

Rick 'Poppa Dawg' Halisheff has been a mainstay on the Western Canadian blues scene for over 25 years, making a name for himself based on his strong vocal and guitar abilities as well as being a seasoned songwriter. Never short on passion, his performances are always driven by the music and sharing the stories of the songs themselves. Whether it is an intimate acoustic venue or large festival stage, he is equally at home in both worlds and has shared the stage with numerous artists as well as releasing 4 CDs with his band 'Dog skin Suit' and two solo efforts.

Joe Nolan

Joe Nolan

Joe Nolan, named by The Globe and Mail as "An Americana wunderkind to look out for," shares Lost Verses, his seventh album – and fifth in just five years - through Fallen Tree Records. It will be available exclusively at Bandcamp on October 31, and on all digital platforms from December 16.

The dozen songs on Lost Verses grew from notes collected in Nolan's most private journals, revealing the inner thoughts of a prolific artist who expresses longing, love and remorse with powerful melodies, primarily picked on his signature parlour guitar. During Nolan's illustrious career he's recorded with JUNO award winning producers Colin Linden and Hawksley Workman, won several Cobalt Prize songwriting awards at the Maple Blues Awards, earned a handful of BreakOut West nominations, as well as a Canadian Folk Music Award nod for Contemporary Roots Album Of The Year for his 2020 release, Drifters.

Influenced by roots-music gentry like Leonard Cohen, Patti Smith, Bruce Springsteen, Lucinda Williams and Bob Dylan, Nolan reflects on his vagabond lifestyle that takes him from his hometown city of Edmonton, to festivals and venues spread throughout Canada's peaks and valleys. A typical year will see him playing anywhere from 150 - 200 shows; he is a true workhorse and road dog.

Often framed as a lone wolf, Nolan self-produced Lost Verses, but called upon some friends to elevate the album. Key tracks feature Sarah Pagé on harp (Leif Vollebekk, The Barr Brothers), LA's COULOU on trumpet and sister Nataya Nolan on background vocals.

Opening a journal can uncloak the deepest emotions buried inside. On Lost Verses, Joe Nolan let's us in through these twelve stories of broken lovers, speeding cars and critical, honest personal contemplation, as he meditates on life's meaning through, what he calls that mist of uncertainty, "cigarette skies."

The lasting effect is a heart-wrenching and utterly inspired recording, and a guarantee that these Lost Verses will not be buried again.

Maddie Storvold

With the goal of “uniting the hippies and the cowboys” as Willie Nelson once did decades ago, Storvold is quickly finding her sure-footing in the shifting landscape at the intersection of Singer-Songwriter & Psych-Folk. In 2019, she won CTV’s The Launch, receiving the opportunity to record and release a ballad, “Don’t Say You Love Me”, written and produced by Bryan Adams. The single shot to #1 on the country charts in less than 3 hours, and peaked at #3 on the overall charts, surpassing Lady Gaga and P!nk. Her tenure on The Launch, and the impact of the single only supplemented her already-acclaimed catalogue of mature songs and dedicated fanbase in Western Canada.

Having a fascination with site-specific performance, Storvold has carved out a place for herself playing unique venues, including a 4-storey planetarium CD release, a mountain cave requiring the audience to spelunk into the show, a trampoline park, and a streetcar perched on a bridge above the North Saskatchewan River. She has also showcased her songcraft in more conventional venues, such as the Edmonton Folk Fest, Canmore Folk Fest, Tiny Lights, Bear Creek Folk Fest, North Country Fair, Stampede City Sessions (airing to over 3.5 million unique viewers), and Wild Mountain. She has also held official performances at BreakOut West, Folk Alliance, and most recently, Alberta Showcase.

Herb Dixon

You don’t get to pick your own nickname, and when you can impersonate a Harley Davidson better than anyone in the world, as Herb Dixon can, you get the best nickname ever, “The Harley Guy”.

He performed at the massive 17,000-seat grandstand show at the Calgary Stampede not once, but twice in 2002 and 2005. In 2003 Herb was invited to put his Harley Davidson impression to the test by none other than Harley Davidson themselves, at the 100-year anniversary event in Milwaukee, sharing the stage with BB King. Herb impressed the tough biker crowd and knew for certain; his Harley impression was as good as they get.

From there he hit the road, opening for the likes of the Doobie Brothers, The Beach Boys, Blake Shelton and LeAnne Rimes, just to name a few. In 2009 his Harley impression was once again put to the ultimate test when he opened for Kenny Chesney at the famous Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

Herb is far more than just a Harley impression. From corporate conventions to cruise ships and headline performances, Herb Dixon finds a way to have fun with every audience. Herb is known as one of the most consistent corporate performers and he always adapts his routines depending on the audience’s response to his jokes.
